Tourists always pay attention to scattered across a vast landscape of India's original masterpieces of ancient architecture,

including temples, mosques and palaces, often losing sight of the relic of the interesting historical infrastructure.

These underground buildings (towers, wells), once numbered in the thousands, and initially escaped to the ground to

ensure people's access to water.

Over time, towers, wells have become increasingly sophisticated in their design, turning out a modest hole in the ground with steps

in a fully functional Hindu temples with carved columns, stairwells and shrines.

Chicago journalist Victoria Lautman first looked over the edge of the pit Adaladzh about 30 years ago and froze at the thought that

such an architectural wonder not to seek up and down into the ground.

Since then, she has devoted much of his trips to India over the past five years, finding and photographing as many of these water wells

can be.

Today Victoria Lautman discovered, visited and photographed more than 200 of these towers, underground wells.

"Going down the stairs, a man covering unusual feelings when exhausting the heat turns into a cool enveloping, and noise is muted,"

 - she writes about the visit of underground wells.

After centuries of neglect, some towers, wells are in a dangerous condition or completely may disappear, while others carefully

are maintained by local communities or municipalities that recognize their importance.

In an attempt to preserve ancient heritage, Victoria Lautman gathered a visual tour of the 75 most unique and interesting holes

in the new book "The Vanishing, wells tower in India."
