Poenari Castle


Poenari Castle in Romania was built around the beginning of the 13th century.

 It was the residence of the infamous Vlad Tepes, son of Vlad Dracula, whose reputation for cruelty inspired Bram Stoke

r in 1897 to write a novel about the vampire - Count Dracula.




Olsztyn castle


The 14th-century Olsztyn castle in Poland was built by King Casimir III the Great to protect Western Lesser Poland from the Czechs, 

who at that time belonged to Silesia. 

In 1655, the castle was captured by the Swedes, and since then, has turned into ruins.




Spissky castle


Spis Castle is located in Eastern Slovakia. Built in the 12th century, it was destroyed in a fire in 1780.

 Rumor has it that the owners deliberately burned it to reduce taxes, since at that time additional taxes were applied to the covered buildings. 

Or that lightning struck him.



Chateau gaillard


Chateau Gayllard is a 12th-century castle overlooking the River Seine in Normandy, France.

 It was destroyed in 1598 by order of King Henry IV, because he believed that the fortress could pose a serious threat to the region 

if the enemy captures it.



Menlo Castle

Menlo Castle is a 16th-century ivy-covered castle located on the banks of the Corrib River in Colorado, Galway, Ireland.

 It was built in 1569 and was the home of the Blake family.



Samoborsky castle


The 13th-century Samobor Castle is located on the top of Tepec Hill in Samobor, Croatia, overlooking the area that was once

 an important crossroads of trade routes in the northwest corner of the Sava Valley. 

It remained valid until the end of the 18th century.



Castle of carlaverok


Carloverock Castle is a moored triangular castle, first built in the 13th century, located on the south coast of Scotland. 

Kaerlaverok was the stronghold of the Maxwell family from the 13th century to the 17th century, when the castle was abandoned.



Kidwelli Castle


Kidwelli Castle is a Norman castle overlooking the Gwendreth River and the city of Kidwelli in Wales. 

The castle was used as a filming location for the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, appearing in the very first scene after the names.



Goodrich Castle


Goodrich Castle is a Norman medieval castle located north of the village of Goodrich in Herefordshire, England, controlling 

a key location between Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye.

 The design of this circular castle with a concentric structure, combining luxurious living quarters with extensive defensive structures 

and influenced many other structures throughout England throughout the medieval period.



Botwell Castle


Bothwell Castle is located on a high steep bank, above the bend of the Clyde River, in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. 

The castle played a key role in the Scottish independence wars.



Dunstenburg Castle


Dunstenburg Castle is located on the Northumberland coast in northern England, between the villages of Craster and Ambleton.

 The castle was built by Count Thomas of Lancaster in the 14th century.




Danlus Castle


Dunlack Castle is located in Northern Ireland and served as the seat of the Earl of Antrim until the impoverishment of the McDonnell 

in 1690, after the Battle of Boyne. 

Since then, the castle fell into decay, and some of its elements served as building material for neighboring buildings.
