1.Matterhorn, Switzerland

The first successful ascent of the Matterhorn was made by Edward Wumper, Francis Douglas, Charles Hudson, Douglas Hadow and Michel Crozat. Unfortunately, an accident on the descent led to their death. Altitude: 4478 m. First recorded ascent: July 14, 1865.

 

 

2.Alpamayo, Peru

The mountain was named “the most beautiful mountain in the world” by the German magazine Alpinismus in 1966, based on a survey of climbers and photographers. Its height is 5,947 meters.

 

 

3.Demavend, Iran

The second highest volcano in Asia, Damavand, is also known from Persian mythology. Damavand is part of a volcanic chain (together with Kilimanjaro, Orizaba, Mount Sidli, Giluwe, Elbrus and Ojos del Salado). Height: 5,610 meters. First ascent: 905

 

 

4.Stetind, Norway

This distinctive peak was named Norway's "National Mountain" in a 2002 radio poll. Height: 1,392 meters. First ascent: 1910

 

5.Cerro Torre, Argentina / Chile

The jagged peak is located in southern Patagonia. Height: 3,128 meters. First ascent: 1974

 

 

6.Licancabur, Chile / Bolivia

The hotel is located close to the magnificent verdant Lagoon Verde, and Licancabur may be the most volcanic looking volcano.

Its height: 5,920 meters. First ascent: 1884

 

7.Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Italy

Three distinctive peaks in the Dolomites: Cime Grande, Cime Ovest and Cima Piccola. Height: 2,999 meters (Chime Grande).

First ascent: 1869

 

8.Kirkyufell, Iceland

An interesting and magical peak on the northern coast of the Snaefellsnes peninsula, Iceland. Height: 463 meters.

 

9.Layla Peak, Pakistan

This spear-mountain is located in Gilgit-Baltistan, where there are five mountains from the "eight-thousanders", and more than fifty peaks with a height of more than 7000 meters. Height: 6,096 meters. First ascent: 1997.

 

10.Mount Kailash, China

A Tibetan peak and an important pilgrimage site, the Chinese have banned attempts to climb the mountain. The great climber Reinhold Messner said: "If we conquer this mountain, then we will conquer something in the souls of people." Height: 6,638 meters.

 

11.Eiger, Switzerland

This peak in the Swiss Alps was first conquered in 1858, but until July 24, 1938, no one climbed the north side. Height: 3,970 meters. First ascent: 1858

 

12.Roraima, Venezuela / Brazil

The mesas, or Tepui, were first described by Walter and these peaks inspired Disney's Up. Height: 2,810 meters. First ascent: 1884

 

13.Machapuchare, Nepal

The mountain peak is closed to climbers due to its religious significance. Height: 6,993 meters.

 

14.El Capitan, USA

The vertical cliff in Yosemite National Park is a favorite for climbers and rock climbers, as well as the park's trademark.

 

15.Benbulben, Ireland

A striking rock formation in County Sligo. The gentle slopes make it easy to climb the southern slope, while the northern slope requires a lot of skill. Height: 536 meters.

 

16.Mount Fitz Roy, Chile / Argentina.

During the summer season, one hundred people can reach the summit of Everest in one day, but this spectacular peak in Patagonia is sometimes only conquered once. Climbers must overcome sheer granite cliffs, while the weather, and Fitz Roy's relative isolation, can also pose major challenges. Height: 3 405 meters. First ascent: 1952

 

17.Table Mountain, South Africa

An obvious choice that cannot be ignored. It is one of Cape Town's biggest tourist attractions and can be climbed all the way to the top. Height: 1,084 meters. First ascent: 1503

 

18.McKinley / Denali, USA

The highest mountain not only in Alaska, but throughout North America with a height of 6,168 meters. First ascent: 1903

 

19.Black Quillin, Scotland

This is not one peak, but a whole chain of mountain peaks with the largest peak Squirr Alistair at 992 meters above sea level.
