Western Cuba

The cemetery covers an area of ​​57 hectares and has almost a million graves. It is considered one of the largest cemeteries in Latin America.

El Junque was declared the National Monument of the Cuban National Commission on Monuments on December 25, 1979.


Baracoa is the oldest city of Cuba, it was founded in 1511. 

According to one of the versions, Christopher Columbus first landed on the shores of Cuba just near the present Baracoa. 

This version is supported by a wooden cross, which is now in the city cathedral, whose age (late 15th century) was recently confirmed by expertise.

 Baracoa is the main center of chocolate production in Cuba.
